One Blazer, Three Ways – A Love Letter to Wardrobe Versatility

One Blazer, Three Ways – A Love Letter to Wardrobe Versatility

There are few wardrobe pieces that are as versatile as the structured blazer. Often the go-to for corporate executives, equestrians, bridegrooms, and fashion enthusiasts the world over, the blazer (in its many forms) somehow manages to exist and excel seamlessly across occasion or time of day.

The Smoke Wool and Silk Waistcoat Blazer is one of those wardrobe items that must simply be experienced IRL. From the strong internal structuring, cinched hourglass waist and asymmetric lapel, to the inbuilt waistcoat, with bespoke ceramic buttons crafted by artist Wen Lyu, this blazer is both a work of art and an example of superior craftsmanship. And in true blazer fashion, it can be worn (almost) whenever or wherever.

For a day at the office, I would pair this blazer with high-waisted trousers, a white vest top or silk blouse, and a classic loafer or pump. Whether worn open or with the waistcoat’s custom ceramic buttons fastened, the blazer takes centre stage whilst the outfit as a whole remains stylish yet functional for a busy day of meetings and work.

Weekend Equestrian Style

Once the weekend rolls around, consider swapping your tailored trousers and top/blouse for a more relaxed turtleneck top and form-fitting leggings. A pair of knee-high riding boots adds an equestrian feel, while the intentional structure in the blazer adds an elevated formality to an otherwise more casual outfit. I would wear this while running errands, or en route to a weekend brunch with my favourite people.

PM Dinner + Drinks

One of my favourite times to wear a blazer is at night and/or as part of a more formal or occasion-wear outfit. Draped over bare shoulders, or atop a slinky silk dress and heels, a perfectly tailored blazer offsets an otherwise more feminine ensemble with masculine elements. For me, the only thing missing in this scenario is a perfectly-made French 75, beautiful surroundings and equally brilliant company.

Whether or not in the classing le smoking style, a structured blazer (in this case, worn alongside high-waisted tailored shorts, sheer leggings and a sharp slingback heel) will always be one of my go-to options for an evening out.
